Christmas Memories

We found ourselves truly blessed this Christmas season. We got early presents when we took Tay up to Primary Children's, and her ultra-sound came back clear - so far nothing is growing in her tummy! Plus, her blood count was up. Also, I love my family so much and am so thankful for my Savior. It was humbling, exciting, fun - and just a great time for us.

Our Roller-Coaster Lives

Everyone keeps asking me how I'm doing, and I honestly have to say it depends on the day. In fact, it depends on the minute :) Things are hard, but they are good, too. With our weekly chemo trips (to either Salt Lake or St. George), we really try to make the most of it. That's why our lives are a roller-coaster right now. The highs are really high, and the lows are really low. Here are some pictures to show what I mean.

On a Salt Lake trip, we got tickets to the Festival of Trees. It was a first-time experience for me and the kids. It was really meaningful to us this year, and I'm thankful we got to go.

We then went to Temple Square w/ Josh (Jeep's brother) and his family. It was cold but good. Plus, Tay seemed fine the whole time after her treatment, which was a blessing.

Then, the kids got to see Santa last week at our ward party. They were so excited!

Then, the week got more difficult. After the ward party, I noticed Tay was losing a lot of hair. I had a harder time with it than she did for sure (I think I'm over-emotional lately or something). She just wanted to make sure it would come back brown, not gray, like Grandma Nedra's had.

So, a couple nights later, the guys in our family let Tay shave their heads with the clippers before it became her turn. (She was shedding ALL over the place). She wasn't thrilled with the clippers, but she's a trooper. She loves her new hats and seems fine. The good news is that she's tolerating the chemo well, and it must be working because all the side effects show it is.

We just try to keep positive - some days harder than others :)

Our Family and 24 WEEKS!

Here is our attempt at family pictures.
It's a good thing the kids are cute
because they sure don't like to smile all at the same time :)

We Have Never Been More Thankful

So far in 2009, we've reminded of how thankful we are for each and every blessing we have. Thanksgiving was a great holiday to commemorate this lesson. Nothing is better than great family and great food!

I felt especially blessed to be able to have my whole family there, as well as Jeep's. What a great holiday!

Here are a few pics of our journey so far. I know it's really just beginning, but we're glad to have made it this far.

She was so excited to drink chocolate milk and go on wagon rides

She also loved the play room and riding Thomas the Train

Our Journey Begins...

Well, 3-year-old Tayleah had a swollen belly last Tuesday. On Wednesday, she saw the doctor. On Thursday, she had an ultra-sound and CT scan, which showed a tumor located by her right kidney. By Friday, we were headed up to Primary Children's Hospital. On Saturday morning, she had surgery to remove the tumor and kidney. Jeep and I have never been so scared in our lives. She came out of surgery just fine - groggy and ornery but doing well. On Sunday, she is recovering well.

Now we're waiting for a pathology report about the tumor. It looks like a form of Cancer called Wilms Tumor, and it is very treatable. However, she will most likely need chemotherapy. She is strong and feisty, however, which has impressed the nurses. We appreciate all the prayers, texts, messages, and gifts from so many loved ones. Prayers are appreciated and definitely felt. We're hanging in there but apprehensive about the rest of this journey we are just now beginning.

Halloween and Week #20

Halloween was sure eventful this year. Kinley was Hannah Montana. Tay was Dancing Dora. Trex was kind of out of it, but he was Superman for a little while. (He fevered all day but is doing better now). I think they're all cute, of course :)

The wigs add to the costumes!
